4-H Day at the State Capitol provides opportunities for 4-Hers to learn more about state government procedures, meet local legislators and encourage civic engagement.  Middle School and High School 4-Hers may be better suited for this event as they probably have had more 4-H experiences to share and explain 4-H impacts.  However, some 4-H programs bring Elementary age 4-Hers as well.  For more informationcontact your local 4-H Extension Agent and ask about this 4-H opportunity.


Drone Discovery - Wednesday, October 5, 2016

Developed by Cornell University Cooperative Extension, the 2016 4-H National Youth Science Day challenge will explore how remote sensing can be used to solve real world problems while learning concepts like flight dynamics, forces of flight, basic computer coding, as well as following federal regulations while operating drones.  For more information

Virginia 4-H State Congress is the premier, statewide annual 4-H event for outstanding 4-H teens and adult volunteer leaders. Its mission is to provide competitive and non-competitive educational experiences to Virginia teens and the adults who work with them, helping them to develop life skills and leadership abilities to become contributing citizens in their communities.  For more information contact your local Virginia Cooperative Extension Office  and ask about this 4-H opportunity.

4-H Officer Training & Leadership Workshop – December 5, 2015

National Youth Maker Summit – November 6 – 9, 2015

The 4-H Marine Science Camp is an earth science adventure for youth ages 9 to 13.  Included in the weekend experience will be educational workshops in aquatic habit, wildlife identification, canoeing and fishing.  Click here for more information.



2015 June Dairy Month 4-H Poster Contest

Every bona fide Virginia 4-H member ages 9 - 19 may participate in your local community.  Youth will learn more about milk and milk products and their importance to human health.  The theme is "Get More with Milk."  The poster must be on a standard poster board and must be of uniform size 14" x 22." For more information contact your local Virginia Cooperative Extension Office The top three county/city posters may compete for state awards during State 4-H Congress.

"Jammin' on the James" Water Camp: May 29 - 31, 2015 (Ages 9 - 13)

Jamestown 4-H Educational Center - Williamsburg, VA

The Water Camp allows children the opportunity to experience the James River in an extremely safe environment.  At 348 miles long, the James River is the 12th largest river in the Unites States that is based entirely in one state, Virginia.  Youth will have an opportunity to experience sailing, canoeing, kayaking, fishing, and water quality.  Read  more.



Marine Science Camp: April 7 - 9, 2015 (Ages 9 - 13)

The 4-H Short Film Festival is especially for high school students.  The weekend will commence with filmaking workshops and culminate with a 24 hour film challenge in which teams will create a short film of their own to be exhibited and judged.  READ MORE



2014 National Youth Science Day:  October 8, 2014

Hundreds of thousands of youth from all around the nation will complete a single, innovative experiment on 4-H National Youth Science Day, which will be held on Wednesday, October 8, 2014.   The 2014 National Science Experiment Rockets to the Rescue, will task youth to design and build an aerodynamic food transportation device that can deliver a payload of nutritious food to fictitious disaster victims.  Click here to learn more.
